Don't Miss The Moment

A man named Jeffrey sent this to me and I thought it was so moving that I had to share.....

From slavery and the various rebellions.. . Harriet Tubman, Nat Turner, John Brown...

From reconstruction and the politicians/ agitators who emerged...Hiram Revels, PBS Pinchback, Frederick Douglass, Ida B Wells, Fannie Lou Hamer, Ella Baker, Malcolm X, Angela Davis, Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lewis, Huey Newton and Elaine Brown.

From the foundations that began to build in politics and elsewhere with Adam Clayton Powell, Shirley Chisholm, John Conyers.

The bridges that began to build with Barbara Jordan, Andrew Young, Walter Fauntroy and Gary Franks.

The road opened by Percy Sutton, David Dinkins, Charlie Rangel and Doug Wilder.

The setup by Jesse Jackson, Sr. and Lenora Fulani.

The spike by Barack Obama.

The Presidency is the story.

Don't miss the moment...

For every death, beating, lynching, baggage car riding, firehouse, attack dog indignity withstood by every hero and shero so we could cast a vote, speak out freely argue and write an email.

Its no longer the bullet..its the ballot.

Step back, jump in the pool and immerse yourself in the moment. Its global.

Save your pennies and buy a variety of newspapers in the morning. It will be worth saving.

And yes, it will be okay to cry.

Hi - Love your poem! (Especially the mention of Dr. Lenora Fulani, who I've worked w/ and loved for many years - Not too many people give her the props she deserves! And to the independents and independent movement - where the fuel and responsibility for sustaining this historical momentum lies!
